My name is Blake Kinsey, and I am a freelancer in the film & video business specializing in Directing, Creative Producing & Writing.

As a storyteller at heart, I fell in love with filmmaking at a young age. There was something simply beautiful about the process of bringing the images in my head to reality. Back Porch Films actually erected around age 15, where I printed the name and taped it to my desk. Through this love, I found my way into film school, where I quickly fell hard for the independent filmmaking spirit. I gathered teams that shot films in all kinds of locations in our small southern college town; forest landscapes, churches, gas station parking lots, etc.

That indie spirit stuck with me, and has now bled into the Back Porch Films pursuit — a home for southern storytellers to find community, opportunity and fulfillment in their continued need to produce films independently.

My hope is for this company to be a champion of southern stories, in all forms; narrative, music video, documentary, commercial video, etc. Southern folks are storytellers at heart, and I wish to bring their stories to light.

Stories unite us. They bring us into new worlds, and allow us to experience our reality from perspectives otherwise passed over. They come alive around campfires, at barbecues, and most importantly, on the Back Porch.
